Today, within the Vietnamese community we celebrate Tết, the most important holiday in Vietnam. The Vietnamese use the Lunar Calender, which is emphasized by the moon, making our new year later than the common known January 1st. To spark an idea of how you know tết is commencing, you will see this little red lucky envelope.
Ahh, the memories...
As if today wasn't already exciting as is, an exciting brought this day to be even more memorable. Originally, this weekend was meant only as a cabin trip to the San Gabriel Mountains where Elliot's dad's cabin was located, but my family wanted us (My brother, sister and I) to come along to their Vegas trip. So how can we make it work out where both ends will meet? We decided to invite our friends to tag along to Vegas and head over to the cabin afterwards. As always, we will let the pictures and captions fill you in with our adventure.
The 'Bang Bus' was on tour, and the back was completely packed with sleeping accessories.
I was driving with these items surrounding me lol
Our room in New York, New York.
What kind of trip to Vegas would it be without a group picture?
Even though Peter had lost some money, he doubled up in the end.
Glover came up with just coming to Vegas with 10 bucks. Good trip so far eh?
The majority of the Vegas trip revolved around them playing roulette
As a heads up, during the Winter time over at Vegas, the fog is really, really dense and cold
This was how thick the fog was outside the MGM Grand. Looks like the Hulk or Godzilla is coming...
Roulette again... lol
After waking up with only 2 hours of sleep, I see Yoshi nearly knocked out on the corner of the wardrobe lol
This is our room after everyone settled in.
This is where we stayed!
These two cars are ready to take off. Destination? Planet Fail.
The mother and the half-brother.
A better look at the little munchkin. He looks like Peter as a toddler!
On the way back looking for a boba shop, we drive by TeaStation. As you can see, Andy was eager enough to actually jump out of the van while it was still moving
TeaStation in Nevada is the same as California: Best Milk Tea. No competition
We kept in mind how much Duy loved boba, we brought him back a cup. Well, what's left of it...
Depression hits!
Many, many hours later, we took off to Elliot's dad's cabin in the San Gabriel mountains. Quick stop for snacks is always necessary
As soon as we get there, we are warmly greeted by Rob, who left soon after. If he had stayed, he would have added to the failure that ensued later on that evening...
Christy grilling the onions, Andy cooking up the ground beef. Pasta is on the way!
While they were busy making our meal, us lazy people were playing Mario Party 8. Swanky.
And what kind of Asians would we be without resulting to playing cards?
Peter being intoxicated lead him to show Andrew (Ngo) what DGF is all about!
Grey Goose mixes are deadly for this group. This was what Rob would've been involved as stated earlier. Unfortunately, I was sleeping beside them while all this ruckus was amuck.
Things just go downhill as the night proceeded. Thomas and Andrew-- I'll leave it at that. Glover's expression is just priceless
Peter entered his room only to be suddenly 'attacked' by a computer.
A brief nap occurs during the mayhem... This was just starting the rest of the night which just so happened to be undocumented or photo taken. Damn.
Elliot's dad's cabin. Real nice place to get away from the city life
Elliot showing us the area. Apparently, we were right next to Mt. High!
At a certain elevation point, the fog grew thicker and thicker the further we drove. At this point we stopped to get a feel of where we were.
Even the branches were frozen
The fog was even more dense downhill
The camera itself can give you an idea of how thick the fog was
After adapting to the chilly weather, we headed back to Mt. High
Dat tried to drop kick the snow lol
Snowball fight!
Dat, who didn't cooperate with anyone during the snowball fight, was hit by Andrew. You can tell how hard he hit him by the way Dat is on his knees haha
It was us... The Counter-Terrorists...
Against the Terrorists...
Of course, what kind of trip would it be without me failing myself...
To finish the day off, we were back home to celebrate the other half-brother, Henry's 3rd birthday.
Well, that was our weekend. This week there will definitely be a fail... In the talks, we have a trip heading back to San Diego to celebrate Elliot's birthday. And how else would it be a party without Rob, Phirun and Duy... In one apartment complex. Unavoidable fail...
Till next time fellow bloggers!
